Wasn't that a reason to nominate them as a trio: as long as you liked the one you saw, then your vote made sense. Presumably the voters were evenly split between the three? And presumably the nominating committee considered the psychological ramifications on their young psyches by thinking how devastating it would have been for just one of them to win the award. (The special award for the Matildas was a better way to go and they should do that more often, since it's fun seeing talented kids on awards shows.)
The Skinner/Ripley joint nomination was stupid: two completely different characters.
