There've been young Dollys and old; black and white; female and male. But has there ever been a Southern-fried Dolly?

She never really discusses her provenance, does she? The only clue about her past is her (assumed) maiden name Gallagher, and God knows there have been more than a few Dollys who are unlikely to have been née Gallagher. (Worse is when they put on a fake Irish accent to account for it.)

Back in the day Minnie Pearl would have been good (her career goal was to go to London and become a classical actress) and Dolly Parton has been touted as a possible replacement.
