I admit I have only seen a less-than-stellar regional production (and, as a child, one of the national tours) but when I caught it last year I really thought the piece itself was wanting. I can imagine many scenes being goosed by gifted performers, but the weird structure (and that ending!) struck me as less-than-ideal.
