Reportedly, a South Korean theater owner cut the songs, so he could squeeze in more showings per day.

It could, however, be an urban myth. South Koreans LOVE their musicals, so it's hard to imagine they wouldn't complain.

FYI: South Korean producers have been investing lots in Broadway shows; one of 'em won a Tony for ''Kinky Boots.''

And in South Korea, Frank Wildhorn's shows, like ''Jekyll & Hyde,'' are hits; he's even written original musicals for them.

In 2013, the N.Y. Times reported that ''Jekyll'' just celebrated its 10th anniversary there, but Sondheim's shows ''sold poorly.''
