To honor his contributions to preserving the history and legacy of Broadway.
I realize some people are upset, especially those who contributed to his Kickstarter campaign (hey, I just made another contribution last week, and I've been waiting as long as everyone else), and I understand and respect that. But, knowing the mission he has taken on, and his perseverance, not to mention the many personal interviews he did with Broadway legends - many no longer with us - I think it's all very important.
I know little about the financial side of things, except how exorbitant it is to secure even a minute of old televised footage, like the Ed Sullivan show. Theatre being live makes it necessary to go to those sources for footage. There are people/producers who were working with him, and I'm sure they remain dedicated to trying to get things finished. But, for now, it's all about grieving and supporting his family. |
