| This is an over-reaction from the Met based on such a longstanding no-reaction and and inactivity towards James Levine. Even standees waiting outside the Met related stories they had heard about James Levine. Copley has an excellent reputation for many years; apparently the word is that a chorister who didn't speak English that well thought Copley's remark was about him; he reported it to someone, and it made its way up to Peter Gelb, who then fired Copley without any chance to explain himself or the context of his remark. Apparently the chorister feels bad for not understanding what was said. |
