I think there's still hope. The Warner Archive division of Warner Bros. is still pretty dedicated to releasing classic films from the Golden Age. They recently put out a completely restored, uncut edition on Blu-ray of the '41 The Sea Wolf, which was long thought to be lost. I believe it took them over a decade to locate the missing scenes and do a comprehensive restoration.
Columbia studios labored well over 30 years to put together the most complete version of the classic '37 film Lost Horizon ever thought possible. Who knows? Maybe one day Where's Charley? will happen. |
