I was in the 400s in the front row with my daughter (in a TDF seat), and there are definitely pros and cons to sitting there. The downside is that you are literally backstage for the shadow theater, and there were many times when it felt like the show was directed towards the opposite side of the house. Also, in the first scene, a metal structure is right in front of you and blocks your view of the stage. It made it hard to follow the story, at least at first.
On the other hand, my daughter loved the experience of being backstage for that one scene. What I thought was a drawback she saw as a huge plus because she thought it was really fun to be so close to the actors and to see how all the effects worked. A lot of entrances and exits also happen in that area, which she also thought was cool. And she got to pet a chicken. So, pluses and minuses! Which I guess is always the case when you have theater in the round.
Also, FYI, the front row is in the sand, in case you are bringing any bags, etc. |
