My parents got to see the show by a fluke. My uncle's boss sent him to buy 4 tickets. The only availability was Christmas. The boss couldn't use them so my uncle took my grandmother and my parents (Christmas was their anniversary). They always claimed that this was the best show.

My first exposure to South Pacific was at a small town community theater. There was very little Asian population there (like one kid in my high school.)

Anyway they just took white kids and spray tanned them. I never got the whole prejudice aspect of it. I remember when Nellie first meets his kids and is horrified I didn't get it. I was like they are just a little tan. What is the problem?

At the recent Lincoln Center production, I had a seat in row C which turned out to be in the front row, and stage light overflowed onto those of us seated there. During "Some Enchanted Evening, I noticed the woman on my left reached and held her husband's hand for the duration of the song. Ditto this Nearly Was Mine/ Very touching.
