| A charmer. So glad I got to see him on stage during a visit to Chicago. | |

| I only saw him once on stage and that was his Sheridan Whiteside in Steppenwolf’s MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER in 1998. Directed by no less than James Burrows it was a memorable evening at the theater and the toughest to get ticket in town. | |

| I saw him in The Seafarer in 2009 at Steppenwolf. Also in Chapatti at Northlight in 2014. I should have made a greater effort over the years to see him in more plays at both of these theaters. | |

| I saw him in Orphans, The House of Blue Leaves and most recently in The Herd three years ago at Steppenwolf. He was in a play at Paper Mill not too long ago and I wish I had seen him in that. Such a fine actor. | |

| I forgot about The Herd -- I saw him in that play also in 2015. A few times I bumped into him in the little sandwich shop that was about a half block north of Steppenwolf on the east side of the street -- he was very cordial but not overly chatty. He seemed like a nice guy. | |

| As a Steppenwolf subscriber, I was fortunate to see him in numerous productions, most recently in The Rembrandt last fall, his final production. He seemed frail, but still gave a terrific performance. He and Francis Guinan had great chemistry as long-time partners. | |

| Also a Steppenwolf subscriber here and always enjoyed seeing him, but will never forget his performance in The Drawer Boy in the early 2000s. It was John Mahoney, Frank Galati and Johnny Galecki and was just a really first rate production. | |

| That's the one he did at Paper Mill too, although I'm pretty sure it was a different production. The rest of the cast certainly was different. I remember liking him but not the play. | |
