| That was a great production, and yes, it was much better live since Baranski had the wrong tone for it on tv in comparison to Channing on stage. Mahoney was terrific; his character is supposed to be a bad singer/songwriter, and Mr. Mahoney (whether it was his real voice or his worse version of it), had one of the worst singing voices I've ever heard--- so funny! The female version would be Candice Bergen in the film "Starting Over" (also hilarious). But Mahoney and Swoosie Kurtz were so funny and so moving in "House of Blue Leaves", and rest of the cast was wonderful, too. Of course, Mr. Mahoney was always a pleasure to watch on "Frasier" along with the rest of that marvelous cast. He was born in England, and actually started his professional career as an actor in Chicago when he was in his 40s. Rest in peace. |
