British film and theater royalty in Paddington 2

A friend who loved Paddington 2 suggested I see it before it disappears from theatres, saying it was hilarious and a children's classic. I went with him to it this past Sunday and wasn't disappointed. With a cast including Hugh Grant, Hugh Bonneville, Julie Waters, Tom Conti, Jim Broadbent, Sally Hawkins, Eileen Atkins and the voices of Ben Whishaw as Paddington and Imelda Staunton as his sweet Aunt Lucy, and a slew of excellent reviews, a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a BAFTA nomination for Best British Picture, and a production number of a Sondheim song, I wondered why I had not seen more about it on Talkin' Broadway. A search found that two people had commented on it previously, one mentioning that Hugh Grant had sung a snippet of "Rain on the Roof," which meant he/she had not stayed for the credits, the other referring to the full-scale production of "Rain on the Roof" (of all things), which really seemed to be a homage to "Prisoner of Love" from The Producers. I was so glad to see this adorable film with its all-star cast and its Sondheim connection. Catch it eventually on Netflix or some other streaming method, if it has left your multiplex.
