I was number 7400 (or so) in the queue and got in by 11:15. There was a lot of availability, even for weekends, which surprised me and reinforced my impression that this whole thing is a marketing hype/scam. That said, for a Saturday in June, I was offered a pair of tickets for both parts in the Dress Circle, Row B, seats 13-15, for $199 per part, which is more than I usually spend but acceptable for those seats in this production. The Lyric is a barn, but at least I will not be tucked in a corner somewhere.
But the fact that I was able to very easily secure two seats that I consider to be very good for the price (in this show) after two sold out pre-sales makes me wonder what is up. I have no regrets about this purchase at all, but the process leaves a bad taste. |
