| I don't think it's as simple as pointing to shows and saying 'why haven't they gotten around to that yet.' There are a great many issues that go into the selection of an Encores show, not the least of which is getting permission from various estates, who often are holding out for full Broadway representations. That's certainly been the case with the Jerry Herman musicals, as one example, and I know there have been others. I actually think some of the material selected for the "Hey Look Me Over" concert are likely from shows that Encores has not been able to secure the rights to present -- and so this evening of a 'few songs' from each is a sort of compromise with the various rights holders. |
