Jesse, Because of your review I went out and bought a ticket for tonight's performance. I was so glad i did. Beautifully stage glimpses of rarely seen shows. And the first time I've had in 45 years to revisit my first Broadway show, ALL AMERICAN. The performances were all splendid. Top honors for me go to the passionate singing of Clifton Duncan and the take charge intensity of Doug Sills. For the personification of the wit mentioned by Bob Martin we have Bebe Neuwirth who is able to sing, stride and sit with wit and style.
Thanks for the prodding I needed for this delightful evening.

Sills was an excellent Mack in November 2000 in LA

At Reprise's MACK AND MABEL, with Jane Krakowski and Donna McKechnie. Used the revised book, but it still didn't play well, despite the fine performances.
