| I've been staying with this lavish, almost overproduced murder melodrama, but have yet to come up with even a hint as to why Andrew Cunanan behaves the way he does. Since it is told backwards (usually a mistake, I think) is it all being held for the last episode? I recall reading the source for the show and I think there was a lot of crystal meth, personality breakdown, delusion, etc. This is not in the show, to date, or I've been napping. The writers have given us a Cunannan who lacks the fascination of the killers in "Compulsion" or "Rope." He seems to have no motive, so he lacks interest. I feel sorry for Criss who works very hard, but is stranded in the part. What's completely lacking is the blood chilling, other worldly quality Javier Bardem had in "No Country For Old Men." Now THAT was evil. Even Mitchum half a century ago in "Night of the Hunter" was evil. This isn't cutting it for me. |
