I miss the old days when press releases announced shows the public could expect to see in the immediate future. "Special industry reading" – so what's special about it? Calling it an "invitational industry" reading doesn't mean the "industry" will show up, although I hope some in the category do, since the public is excluded.
Michele Pawk is almost always terrific, so she's a "get."
Regarding "Sistas," I don't know what to make of the claim that it's the "longest-running African American musical in New York history." It's currently playing exactly two afternoon shows a week, i.e. for at most 356 people a week. For comparison, "The Wiz" ran a few years and played to over well two million people, on Broadway alone before tours, movie and TV productions.
Hope the reading goes great. Let us know when you're actually being produced. |
