| I believe Goldberg replaced Sheila Hancock as the Mother Superior at some point during the West End run. | |

| Wow, wow, wow, fellas! I said Whoopi should go into Dolly after Bette from the get go but didn't see anyone agreeing so I let it go. | |

| I feel she's much more suited for the role of Horace. If I recall she did replace Nathan Lane in FORUM so it wouldn't be that much of a stretch. | |

| Barry & Fran were hoping to produce a revival of Hello Dolly starring Whoopi in the early 2000s, which Whoopi was in talks for, but it never panned out. I think Whoopi has lost a lot of her charm and timing as an entertainer... but I do think she'd have been quite well suited to the role, at least she would have been 15 years ago. Maybe she'd surprise me now. |

| The character of Pseudolus is much closer to Dolly Levi that it is to Horace Vandergelder. Vandergelder is more like Senex. | |

| I think Miss Goldberg would be a wonderful Dolly! Now that you mention it, Mary Testa would be an intriguing choice...;-) |

| I agree but she sadly doesn't have marquee value.. Sadly indeed. She really deserves to be better known. |

| I've been a fan of Mary since I saw her in "Life Is Not A Doris Day Movie" at the Village Gate in 1982. | |

| First time I ever heard her was on the In Trousers recording, as Miss Goldberg - hence the reference to her to begin with. ;-) | |
