Heartbreaking. She showed an unparalleled range in her theatrical endeavors and was terrific in everything I ever saw her in. I saw her shortly after she announced her retirement from the stage and she did not look well, but I am still shocked by this.
I nearly collided with her on the street once while she was playing Phyllis in Follies and, doing my best not to be intrusive, I managed to tell her how wonderful I thought she was. She seemed shy but was most gracious.
A terribly sad loss. May she rest in peace. |
