What a shock! I saw Maxwell in many things over the years, but was so pleased to see her twice (in DC and NYC) in FOLLIES. I'm so glad that her performance was preserved on such a well-done cast album.

Prior to seeing FOLLIES in New York, my best friend and I decided to stop into the Starbucks under the Marquis Hotel for a snack and some caffeine because we were having dinner after the show. And who should be in line ahead of us, but Jan Maxwell herself, going completely unnoticed. I just had to say to her "Ms Maxwell, we're so looking forward to the show tonight." She was gracious and thanked us for coming.

Just goes to show...on Broadway, you're a star at your theatre, but, a few hundred feet away at Starbucks, you're just another schlub in line for your coffee.
