Yes, I agree. But that still leaves the much bigger question--at least to me: Tom Hanks as Falstaff??!!

One of the reasons Falstaff is such a memorable character is that he is so complex: many different attributes jumbled in one fat man. We've all seen Hanks portray qualities like the warmth, love of life, and humor of Falstaff (the things that draw Hal to him); the huge ego masking the inner weaknesses are not generally traits in Hanks' film characters, true--but the guy's a veteran. I'm gonn try to see this.

My cat is named Hotspur. :)

So glad I got to see Pat Carroll play Falstaff in The Merry Wives Of Windsor. Memorable still nearly 28 years later.
