| I can only echo what others have said. It was a joyous, glorious event, proving to be deliriously entertaining. Sutton and Gavin were spectacular, but, really, all the cast members were wonderful and multiple numbers and performers stopped the show. Most of the dance numbers were performed as they had been in the original. No one would ever claim MILLIE was a masterpiece, but I had forgotten how funny much of it was, and the closing scenes were truly satisfying. Harriet Harris has always been a favorite of mine, and she showed her comic genius again last night. Mark Kudisch, the glamorous Sheryl Lee Ralph (DREAMGIRLS' original Deena), Anne Nathan, Francis Jue, Darren Lee, Megan McGinnis, and the full ensemble were superb. The audience was wildly enthusiastic and energized, adding to the electricity of the event. The performers, as has been noted, were having a blast and relishing everything about the performance. It was a memorable night and I was thrilled to be able to attend. |
