Haha, that's so true! Shows don't really depict what school is actually like because it's boring and unglamorous. Though some credit to Gilmore Girls, when the main character was a teenager she did do homework and study a lot.
One of Jason Katims (producer of Rise, I believe) other shows, "Parenthood" dealt with schools in such a ridiculous manner I groaned out loud far too many times its last season. A small, private charter school opened in less than a year. Neither of the schools' administrators had teaching or administration credentials. The students were allowed to prepare food for other students. That's just the beginning of the absurdity. Since it was its last season though, I stuck with it.
Oh, sorry, ranting about Parenthood and we're talking about Rise. Seriously, I read recaps and listened to some podcasts review it. They all detested it. I decided I may watch an episode, but not until I had nothing else to watch. It's unfortunate that it wastes talent. Rosie Perez is a treasure. |
