I have been going to BROADWAY BACKWARDS for years, and this was the best ever. my highlights:
GOLD MEDAL to jay Armstrong Johnson who perfectly recreated gwen verdon's entire IF THEY COULD SEE ME NOW from SWEET CHARITY.....what a monumental task, fully realize. incredible, really, and john glover doing the vitorio vidal part so complemented the finished product....just pray there is video someday of this on youtube for all theater buffs to enjoy. playbill credits mimi quilllin for recreating fosse choreography for jay. but jay gets the gold for outstanding work for the love of the theater for one night only performance. thanks, jay.
SILVER MEDAL to titus burgess with a moving rendition of HAPPINESS IS JUST A THING CALLED JOE....bravo mr. burgess
BRONZE MEDAL to TONY YAZBACK doing Barbara cook's signature VANILLA ICE CREAM.....the guy can do anything....sing, dance, act....please bring him back to broadway.....he was so fantastic in Prince of Broadway. |
