Tattoos on most people in theatre are not only distracting, but detract from the artist's palette. They don't belong and don't need to be seen unless they're part of the character the actor is playing.
But in this, no more distracting than mohawks, leather pants, plunging v-necks, glitter (lots of glitter), and bathrobes (okay, one). Or headsets. It all fits within the staging.
