| Gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton says he won't be signing up his 5-year-old son for dance classes because ''like 50 percent or more of little boys who take dance class end up being gay. If I had my preference, I would prefer my son to be heterosexual because that’s easier.” Hilton pointed out that gay people are still discriminated against in America, so he wouldn't want his kids ''to have a harder path in life.'' He insists that ''dance class might make your kid gay'' and adds: “I don’t think it’s a homophobic thing to say that a disproportionate amount of male singers, actors [and] dancers on Broadway are gay. There are more gay men drawn to that profession. That’s not homophobic ― that’s just a fact.” |

| I don’t think he should be exposed to art either, or musical comedy: “To dream the inpossible dream...” “for one brief shining moment...” “...we’ll find a new way of living...” If you want your life or your child’s life to be easier, you should steer clear of art, and steer clear of musicals and theatre. It’s never been about “easier” or avoiding jail or punishment or not confronting hypocrisy. But it still won’t work. I think that Perez Hilton fellow needs to see “Billy Elliot” again, a few times. Or read “Babbit” or “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” or the Malcolm X autobiography. Easier. Easier. A rather diminished goal for the next generation. |

| Because that is what happens here and elsewhere lately. 'We" also gave scum ball Bill O'Reilly more PR than would have otherwise occurred. Hilton is doing what he has always done....allow his mouth to drop open without the brain being in the loop,....or the brain being very much in the loop just to assist the "brand" to rise above the clutter. Same with O'Reilly. Can't blame them. We seem to fall for it time after time. | |

| Perez Hilton is one of the most famous (or infamous) celebrity bloggers; he's got 6.5 million Twitter followers alone. So what he has to say can be newsworthy and/or controversial. In this case, he mentioned something Broadway-related ... |

| "Perez Hilton is one of the most famous (or infamous) celebrity bloggers; he's got 6.5 million Twitter followers alone. " Which represents about 2% of the total U.S. population. I, for one, am neither interested in assisting him in increasing those "followers" nor using him to increase mine. |

| That's a pretty disingenuous response. (If our places were reversed, I suppose you would have entitled this reply "Two Wongs Don't Make a Right.") A great many things out there are Broadway-related, but you chose to share this one -- in two places, no less -- which suggests you thought this nonsense *in particular* deserved even wider circulation. Why? |

| From the mouth of the "outer-in-chief" this says more about his own issues with self respect and adjustment to being gay. Hes also giving in to the nurture vs nature argument. Go ahead keep your son away from dance class if that's what draws him. Let him become another closet case so you can out him for more publicity. Or he may be straight as nature intends him to be who loves dance. Why am I even wasting my typing on this? | |

| That's sad if the boy wants to take dance classes. In that case, he's giving his son the very grief that he says he wants to protect him from. And he's creating a bigot in the process. You've got to be carefully taught. | |

| You've put this so well. Perez said in another interview that "thankfully, he doesn't" want to take dance class - which is also problematic. But at least we know the boy hasn't asked to take dance and been denied. He also defends his decision by saying that (to paraphrase) "homosexuality is still a harder life path." To put it as you did, by denying him the option of a dance class "he's giving his son the very grief he says he wants to protect him from." Being a parent is not about raising the child you want; it's about nurturing and cultivating the best of the child you have. |

| What an asshole!! Did he “become gay at age 18”? If so he was old enough to make a choice. Homosexuality is not a choice you either are or your not!!!! As a gay man I have NEVER wished I could change, I love who I have been, who I am, and look forward to who I will be. | |

| This reminds me of the scene in MOMMIE DEAREST when Christina confronts her mom (Joan Crawford) about being adopted. "Why did you adopt me?....I wanna know!! .... to which Joan exclaims, "Maybe I did it for a little extra publicity." Hilton wreaks of it! |
