So, where did those seats come from?

Not the actual seats, of course.

Remembering how frustrating it was, to try to jump through the hoops after being deemed privileged to have the chance to maybe buy a ticket - and then there weren't any available. But apparently there were.

I said it before and I will say it again - this is what they did with Bette in Hello Dolly - they released good seats (mostly premium) closer to the performances so people would buy the high priced premium seats direct instead of going to stubhub or ticket agencies.

A week or so before previews they did this through April 8 and now they are doing it again - it seems to be in 6 week installments.

As for the hubbub over the pre-sales. Marketing and publicity. People want what they can't get.

I remember the Saturday before the Tonys last year, all these seats became available for $500 a pop for Hello Dolly!

The Harry Potter pre-sale sold a lot of not-great seats for high prices. I think there were people buying tickets in the balcony for $165 per part, which seems a bit crazy to me. But if it seems like that is all that is left, then you buy those seats.

I spent a ridiculous amount of time acquiring unexciting seats far back in the mezzanine during the original sale, only to swap them in for the better seats that recently appeared. Although Ticketmaster honored its promise to provide an easy full refund for the seats I didn't want, the whole thing was a pain in the neck, and I would rather have bought the good seats in the first place. However, I'll accept it as the price of keeping scalpers from scooping everything up.

I'd be happier if I could have chosen the new seats off a chart, instead of taking pot luck, but we Muggles can't have everything.
