| Last night's episode was called ''My Fair Uncle'' and centered around Michael (J.J. Totah), the show's gay theater-obsessed teen. His rich Indian uncle, Ro (Hasan Minhaj from ''The Daily Show''), took Michael to see Tina Fey's ''Mean Girls'' on Broadway. Ro later tried to bribe Michael by promising to take him to ''Hello, Dolly!'' And Michael quipped: ''With Bernadette Peters or Donna Murphy?'' |

| My husband and I both considered this a Big Gay Fail. It wouldn't have been possible to see Peters OR Murphy, as their runs didn't overlap. Likewise, Murphy was out of "Dolly" long before "Mean Girls" even started previews. | |

| I'm betting the writers know all this (but most of America doesn't), and they were just going for the joke. It was established in even the trailer for ''Champions'' that Michael is obsessed with Bernadette Peters (see below). At least I found the joke funny. (I've seen worse theater flubs on another NBC show that seem to a-''Rise'' each week.) |

| I was amused by the clueless uncle who keeps flash cards on the nephew's social media reference and decides to watch movies of Lerner and Loewe shows so he can talk to his nephew about the subject. Turns out to be a sweet gesture. | |
