| I hated the way the Tonys handled this season. Even if they went purely by billing, they've always had the discretion to bump up performers. And Kurt Knudsen, now put in Featured, was playing Sid in ''Take Me Aong'' - a role that won Jackie Gleason a Tony for Best Actor in a Musical. As Michael 212 and I both noted below, they could've filled those categories. And it was a slap in the face to that season's choreographers, too. Possible nominees: MIchael Peters (''Leader of the Pack''), Dan Siretta (''Take Me Along''), Janet Watson (''Big River''), Lester Wilson (''Grind''). Nor were the Tonys locked into a mandatory 4 nominees, since they nominated only 3 shows for Score. (Could've included a 4th: ''Harrigan.'') |

| Take Me Along ran for one performance. Do the Tonys ever nominate a show or actors that the Tony voters had no chance to see? db |

| Yes. Kurt Knudsen was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Take Me Along that season. | |

| Also, ''The Moony Shapiro Songbook'' was Tony-nominated for Best Book, even though it closed on its opening night: May 3, 1981. And ''Father's Day'' opened and closed on March 16, 1971, but earned 2 Tony nods: Marian Seldes for Best Actress and Jo Mielziner for Scenery. |

| I think Marian Seldes was nominated for a Tony for a play that only ran one performance. (I think the explanation is that the Nominating Committee was smaller back then and they saw stuff opening night or in previews.) | |
