The administration committee never made that mistake again. Even in a bad year for Broadway--maybe especially in a bad year for Broadway--the business needs to marketing power of the Tonys. An example: "Sunset Boulevard" was the only new musical of its season. The Administration Committee allowed "Smokey Joe's Cafe" to be nominated for best musical that year even though it is a revue, not a musical, so there could be a vote.
