| If Fleming were Tony-nominated, her biggest competition probably would be LIndsay Mendez, her co-star in ''Carousel.'' Other possibilities: Kenita Miller (''Once on This Island''); Bryonha Marie Parham (''Prince of Broadway''); Diana Rigg (''My Fair Lady''); Kate Rockwell (''Mean Girls''). And then there's the question of ''Frozen'': Will Caissie Levy be eligible for Leading Actress or Featured Actress in a Musical? |

| I notice that no previous Mrs. Higginses have been nominated for a Tony. (Cathleen Nesbitt played her twice- in 1956 and then in 1981- and then Brenda Forbes and Dolores Sutton.) If Dame Diana did get nominated, would she be the first actress nominated in a musical who never sang a note? (Unless she is singing Ascot Gavotte in this production?) And I haven't read any of the books about the creation of MY FAIR LADY, but did L&L ever pen a song for Mrs. Higgins? I can imagine there being a spot for it in the scene with her and Eliza at the end. "Show Me" or "Without You" could have been restructured to be song by Mrs. H. to Eliza? |

| Maybe Diana Rigg will be the first Mrs. Higgins to be Tony-nominated. She does have a Tony history as a past winner (''Medea'') & 3-time nominee. If we go back to the original post in this thread, no performer playing Nettie has been Tony-nominated, nor for Billy Bigelow or Julie Jordan (!). |

| She won the Tony without singing a note. Boyd Gaines was nominated without singing. Can't remember if he won. I think Savion Glover was nominated for Noise/Funk without singing. | |
