I saw it the last week of previews, and can't comment on improvements. But it was rapturously received.
Two separate issues would inform any duel appraisal: Changes to the overall concept, alterations, new design elements/removal of same, new blocking to give new focus, etc. vs. the company building confidence, individually and collectively, with what O'Brian wrought. My guess is: the latter was very much in play by the opening. But I don't know of any actual conceptual changes, perhaps save using the Starkeeper slightly less in act one (and I can't document that.) Apparently, the show looked and unfolded with approximately the same overall production construct. It certainly felt like an accomplished performance that last week of previews. Several people have suggested that Henry improved incrementally during the month. |
