Interesting topic. But curious why "Something Rotten!" is one of your examples of a failure? Ten Tony nominations, just shy of two years on Broadway, and several Google results showing they were thisclose to recoupment before touring. Surely the tour is returning a profit at this point. And it is still booking those huge touring houses. It plays tomorrow night at the 2200 seat (!) Kravis in West Palm Beach. Orchestra and "Grand Tier" mezz are sold out. First balcony 50% sold and second balcony (located in nearby East Palm Beach) is wide open.
I saw it last March at the 2600 seat (!!) Broward Center in Ft Lauderdale. Sold out on a Sunday Matinee. Excellent, by the way.
On the other foot... "On Your Feet" plays tomorrow night at the 2000 capacity Fisher Theatre in Detroit. Looks like about 2/3rds of tickets still available. Gloria... have a seat. |
