| While I loved THE BAND'S VISIT, and I haven't seen the other nominated shows, I absolutely believe GROUNDHOG DAY would have had a clearer road to Tony success this year. I saw GHD twice during its run and thought it was one of the best things I'd seen in years. Loved the score, the production and the performances...and it was incredibly moving, even moreso for me than DEH, COME FROM AWAY and GREAT COMET (and I really enjoyed all of them, too). There seems to be a major contrast between last year's Best Musical competition and this year's. In this season my favorite nights in the theatre were BAND'S VISIT...and a second look at DEH-- this time with Noah Galvin, who was remarkable. Will go back to see Trensch. |
