I got a rush ticket tonight to see this lovely and highly romantic play told mostly through dance to John Kander's attractive score.
I'm not always a Stroman cheerleader but I found much to appreciate in her choreography tonight which was often graceful and sweet without being excessive. Kander's music is a pleasure.
I had a mixed reaction to some of the book and it is a rather odd story to adapt to dance. But I still enjoyed the evening very much. Tony Yazbeck is particularly wonderful and gets to dance up a storm but the whole cast is very good. |
