As someone who did just that, albeit in London, I'm fascinated by THEATER. When a show gets the sort of critical response and buzz this one has gotten, I want to see it. As to taking a seat from someone who really wants to see it...oh, really?!? Now that you've had time to think about that assertion, you don't still mean it, I hope?
As it happened, I couldn't get tickets before my trip--except for $1000 each from a scalper. I gave up. Also as it happened, our short-term apartment was just across the street from the Palace Theater. On Thursday morning while I was elsewhere, my husband went to the box office and asked if there was a ticket or two for that night. There were two. And from the quality of the seats, stalls H center, they were house seats that no one purchased and were released. (Tip: you can't count on it happening, but I've often found a seat or two for a "sold out" show on the day of performance, at the box office, and they have always been great seats. Have a big smile and look like an out-of-towner, which I am. It's worth a try.)
I think it helps to enjoy the play if you are a Potterphile. We are not. My husband turned to me at the first interval and said, "So I take it Voldemort is a bad guy." !?! The effects, staging, stage magic, tho, were incredibly good and I'm glad to have seen it. |
