I don't know - there are people who don't/haven't read Shakespeare but still like to see his work performed onstage. I'm one of those avoiders you mentioned and I haven't tried really hard to get a ticket, but I figure I'll see it during its Broadway run. I'm interested because it's a (well-regarded) stage play, no matter what the source material is.
I read a lot and I see a lot of movies, but fantasy on the page and screen is not usually my choice. But I love live theatre, even when the subject matter is something I haven't had an interest in reading in a book or seeing in a movie (and that's not to denigrate the books or the movies). |
