I hope you'll forgive me, but in this case they have good reason for their decision. Rabe's play was originally announced as In the Boom Boom Room, and it was advertised that way for several months, but at some point before the opening, perhaps shortly before previews started at the Beaumont, it became simply Boom Boom Room. This can be seen in the playbill, both on the cover and on the title-and-credits page.
Then Rabe revised the play, reverting back to the earlier title, and Papp produced the revision at the Anspacher. And it was published under the original title.
It wouldn't be a bad idea for ibdb to include a note about this on their page. If you write to them, they may well take the note you send them and, without asking for permission, copy and paste it, word for word, on their page for the show. |
