Broadway Grosses 5/6 — 'Harry Potter' tops $2 million; 'Boys in the Band' tops $1 million for first 8 previews

  • Last week, which ended May 6, Broadway grosses totaled $36,994,030 for 36 shows.

    In the prior week, which ended April 29, Broadway grosses totaled $35,335,328 for 35 shows.

    In the comparable week last year, Broadway grosses totaled $32,862,922 for 36 shows.





  • Broadway had 36 shows on the boards last week, the same number of shows as the comparable week last year. Attendance was a bit better this year by roughly 4,000 seats.

    — The Boys in the Band had a great first week of previews at the 774-seat Booth Theatre. The gross was $1,008,097 for 8 performances. That was 105% of its potential gross, the extra 5% due to premium ticket sales. The average admission was a high $167.51.

    — Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has now broken the $2 million mark for an eight-performance week, helped by premium ticket sales. Its gross last week was $2,104,905 which is 106% of its potential gross.

    — Springsteen on Broadway returned on May 2 after a hiatus and grossed $1,928,605 for 4 performances.
