Slater's got the best shot he could ask for: 1 out of 4 chances (instead of 5).
Plus, there's no overwhelming frontrunner, like last year's Ben Platt in ''Dear Evan Hansen.''
Slater's next test is the Drama Desk, where he'll go up again against Hadden-Paton and Henry, plus Jelani Alladin and Evan Ruggiero.
If he wins the Drama Desk, too, that's good, but who knows how he'll match up with Tony Shalhoub at the Tonys?
I imagine Slater will get a Theatre World for his Broadway debut, as well. So far, the only hiccup he's had is missing a Drama League nomination. |
