Don't know for sure, but I would guess some high schools cut some minor things like the dreaded "f-bomb," but major cuts like they were trying to do last night would have to approved by the licensing company, and the approval would hopefully not be given.

I do think next week's episode with the opening night of Spring Awakening will have the students in the show either demanding that everything be restored to the way it is supposed to be done, or Lou will make a big announcement before the performance and tell the cast that they've worked too hard to have the show be neutered, and they are going to play it the way it's meant to be seen. You are right that it will get great acclaim from students and their parents, and everyone will realize that the show parallels in many ways the lives of the people in the town, especially some of the main characters. I agree that Rosie Perez has been superb throughout the series, and I like Josh Radnor, too. I hope it will be back in the fall or next spring. It's been fun to see some of the really good versions of certain songs, as well as a few of the terrible rehearsals where everything was going awry.
