When did it change? And which licensing companies are you writing about?
The last time I checked was a while back, and I was largely checking about musicals -- specifically those from the '30's through '50's. I was told we could delete all offensive language -- especially anything that might be racist, sexist, even borderline racy, or didn't reflect the changing times. As long as those cuts didn't exceed 10% of the published material.
We were also specifically told we couldn't make any additions, and I asked if that included substituting something like"darn" for "damn." I was told that was okay on the university level and below. |
