I hear what you're saying, but I don't attribute that wholly to the building. I've never had the sense that TFANA had a strong identity, and their programming since moving into the building has struck me as very uneven and unsure of what missions it was attempting to fulfill. So we may be seeing that expressed this year through a forced economy, particularly compared to productions like "The Skin of Our Teeth", but I don't think that dynamic is new.
What I am concerned about is that "The Emperor" seems to be a show in which Kathryn Hunter performs in blackface. I don't know how they can possibly think that this will go over well At All. |
