I know it's weird, but it happened repeatedly, and I wasn't just talking to receptionists. I was always transferred to someone with some authority.
It's great to know the licensing companies are being more careful now, and maybe policies have formalized. A lot more lawyers have gotten involved in all parts of the entertainment industry, and that may be part of this. But who would have thought the early 90's were still the wild west in terms of certain levels of copyright enforcement? I wonder if companies like Encores, giving new attention to musicals that mainly turned up in history books, also affected this.
