36 years ago I dropped Streisand's "It Takes A Woman" Reprise from the film into the show for Ermengarde before "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" while she watched Dolly silently teach Ambrose to dance and also put "Love Is Only Love" (a solo for Streisand in the "Dolly!" film but written for and cut from "Mame")
as a quartet for Cornelius, Irene, Barnaby and Minnie right before "Parade". It gave Dolly a break (she was a little "older") and gave a little perspective to the two younger couples, just as Ermengarde's moment made her and Ambrose's story a little more clear. Total added time, maybe 6 minutes. I thought it actually strengthened the show. Now....Someone chastise me and belittle me....I KNOW y'all want to!!!!! ;-)
