| I saw Garson and, if memory serves, she was wonderful. Several months later, late June I think, I also saw Beatrice Liliie when she took over as prep for the London production. I remember she did something with her wig falling off which I remember for some reason. However, my fondest memory is of Eve Arden in the Los Angeles production. She was funny, warm, and, of course, spectacular with the double takes and clever sarcastic line readings. Sorry I can not be more specific but, well, it was a long time ago and I was quite young. Baranski's interpretation reminded me of Arden but, for some reason, she did not come across as well. (this was the musical of course, not the play). |
