| Putting all else aside, the experience of seeing HP on stage can be a disorienting one. A chunk of the audience are ComicCon level HP nerd/fanatics. No one seems to have told them the characters are not real people. They probably wouldnt believe you if you told them that. Its in a book, like the Bible. It must be true. And its longer than the bible. As is the stage version. Any time a character's name is mentioned, even if they are not actually in the play, high pitched whoops and cheers and applause break out. When characters who have been at odds make up - they cheer. When we are told that in the parallell Potter universe in the play (not the real Potter world) a favorite character is dead, they react as if their mother has just perished. A real TYA experience. Except of course these are grown up young person reacting this way. These reactions have naught to do with the quality of the show or writing - its just reflex reaction of fanatics who live Potter as if real. God bless them, I guess. If Hermione or Ron had died in 'Goblet of Fire' I would have been saddened for a moment, maybe had an intake of breath at the audacity of an author taking such a step. But of course that was not done. So my breath was left un intaken. I wish all at HP well for their run, which I am sure will be a good one. Meanwhile the whooping still rings in my ears, as well as the person sitting behind me to my left who did audible intakes of breath after almost every other line for five hours. |

| The audience got me very excited. I thought it was thrilling to be in such a hot house. | |
