The script of ME AND MY GIRL as performed at Encores! has several other references to the characters and plot of PYGMALION and MY FAIR LADY, which I hadn't remembered from the 1980s Broadway production. Since ME AND MY GIRL was originally produced in London in the 1930s, and is set during that period, it's plausible that there might have been references to PYGMALION (originally produced in 1913) in the original script, but I'm guessing all of them were added by Stephen Fry and or Mike Ockrent for the '80s version, perhaps based partly on the vastly increased worldwide popularity of the characters and plot via MY FAIR LADY (originally produced in 1956). Is that right?
