The attached link doesn't shed any new light on the source of Ms. Grimes' accent, but I'm putting it here because it's enlightening and amusing at the same time. The article was written almost 40 years ago, when Ms. Grimes was playing Dorothy Brock in the pre-Broadway tryout of the Gower Champion-directed "42nd Street." It includes some interesting quotes describing the quality and sound of Ms. Grimes' voice....as well as some quotes directly from Ms. Grimes in which she herself attempts to put the quality of her own voice into words. I just felt it was worth posting. Enjoy!
