| I was talking to a friend who understudied twice on Broadway and both times he did not watch rehearsals--that was not part of the job. As he said, they would have to pay him salary for a month if they did that--and not understudy salary, but full performer salary. So in both cases he was brought in later, did a couple rehearsal and got the low understudy salary for being on standby. |
